even more appropriate is to merge threads covering the same topic ("i want to leech FREE itv or 4od streams, plz heeelp!!"). SRF abounds with threads starting all the same way treating similar aspects of a subject. Subject here is itv/4od, aspect is the knowledge of howtodownload from there.

@jimmycarlos
thanks for the summary and the link to The rtmpdump Archives, new to me! I cant do but primitive coding and yes GFLV is costly .. but in turn i have a healthy, sound attitude: i pay and they do the coding job The high price tag isnt unjustified since these days there is no competition by neither freeware nor payware. If you're a techie or coder by heart then you'd never be interested in purchasing downloaders .. otherwise you may leave your personal comments and suggestions ("its my birthday, plz give me free copy of GetFLV Golden Version!") here:
GetFLV user reviews, user feedback & suggestions

And here is what i know:
StreamTransport [ST], a freeware RTMPE-downloader GUI, did the trick with 4OD/iTV in the past but the developer ("Tery"; not to be confused with "Terry" ) has put the development on hold. Note that ST is "owned" by Jack King who runs the commercial variants of ST on his other 100+ business websites, such as moyea.com, foxreal.com, FLVsoft.com, etc. I am inclined to say that someone who runs 100 websites (in order to promote his few low quality products under different names) abuses the Google SEO ("spammer!") but for sure he must be very busy making money , so no time left for frequent ST updates!

Maybe he even decided to abandon ST (=appetizer for Moyea/Foxreal/FLVsoft/.. clone products!) and sell exclusively commercial products instead. I'll ask him about news and his plans..

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

After a crash course in compiling and some help from a good friend, I've learnt to download from ITV Player. Just so everyone knows, overpriced software is not the only option.

Trying to download this video here:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/b...ie-special/4od

Code:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://ll.securestream.channel4.com:1935/a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1308569875&ip=217.196.235.17&h=947efc13caee29bbf354423cc12991d3" -a "a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1308569875&ip=217.196.235.17&h=947efc13caee29bbf354423cc12991d3" -f "WIN 10,2,153,1" -W "http://www.channel4.com/static/programmes/asset/flash/swf/4odplayer-4.85.6.swf" -p "http://www.channel4.com/programmes/bad-teacher-t4-movie-special/4od" -C Z: -y "mp4:xcuassets/CH4_08_02_900_52603001001002_001.mp4?e=1308569875&ip=217.196.235.17&h=947efc13caee29bbf354423cc12991d3" -o CH4_08_02_900_52603001001002_001.mp4
But all I get is this error (using rtmpdump-2.1d-window):

Code:
ERROR: Closing connection: NetStream.Failed

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

Hey chap, thank you for your reply.

I still don't see why I cannot download the video.

I see you have rtmpdump inside a folder called "rtmpdump-2.3", although you are using "rtmpdump2.1d.exe"
I downloaded rtmpdum from here: http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/download/, is there anything different I should do?

I'm using RTMPexplorer to get the command, which seems pretty much the same as yours... tried it again, but no success. What could I be doing wrong?

Code:
rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://ll.securestream.channel4.com:1935/a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1308642385&ip=217.196.235.17&h=ba15cf33f78fcb4612ab4f17209a9bb9" -a "a4174/e1/?ovpfv=1.1&e=1308642385&ip=217.196.235.17&h=ba15cf33f78fcb4612ab4f17209a9bb9" -f "WIN 10,2,153,1" -W "http://www.channel4.com/static/programmes/asset/flash/swf/4odplayer-4.85.6.swf" -p "http://www.channel4.com/programmes/bad-teacher-t4-movie-special/4od" -C Z: -y "mp4:xcuassets/CH4_08_02_900_52603001001002_001.mp4?e=1308642385&ip=217.196.235.17&h=ba15cf33f78fcb4612ab4f17209a9bb9" -o CH4_08_02_900_52603001001002_001.flv
