Thanks for the info, But aside from the sound the program itself is always so choppy for me, making videos jump, sound goes garbled, none of which happens with camtasia studio, so I'll stick with that.

I'm now more certain than ever that all this depends on your operating system, the video and sound cards installed and probably the amount of RAM, etc. rather than on the software application.

I could never get anything like a decent result using WM Capture on my XP machine but it works a dream on the new one. I guess everyone has to try all the solutions and find the one that works for them.

GetFLV 8.8.40 can download channel4.com video now. Please help us check it.

I've just tested it and you are right, the url detection is perfect and the program is downloaded in the background without the adverts. However, the resulting .asf file plays at the wrong speed - too fast - and my .asf to .wmv converter makes a good effort at correcting this but ultimately fails and has to drop blocks.

What are you talking about? "GetFLV" or "WM Capture"?

GetFLV never worked at all for me, just downloaded a 1.8k empty file.

WM Capture is a screen video capture software, it can't detect streams.

(1) What version are you running now? Please download GetFLV 8.8.40 and install it.

(2) Which video are you downloading? Please tell us webpage url of your error video. We will check it and help you.

Re: www.channel4.com: Any way to capture video from the new 4OD service?

My earlier comment referred to GetFLV 8.8.40. I downloaded it as suggested and ran it in trial mode on a Ch4 4OD programme from my Dell desktop Vista system. The download was truncated by GetFLV to its trial limit. I've uploaded it to a server from which you can hotlink to it or download it:

Code:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/2/10/2315157/Misc%20vids/Hollyoaks%20-%204oD%20-%20Channel%204.flv
As you will see for yourself, it runs at the wrong speed.

That is due to the way GetFLV builds the flv container for some flv files containing h264 video.

You can fix it by demuxing the file and remuxing into a .mp4 container or a new .flv container
