SHOUTcast is an audio streaming solution on the internet. It permits anyone on the internet to broadcast audio from their PC to listeners across the Internet or any other IP-based network. But broadcasting too many clients often isn't possible from a home Internet connection, but this problem is easily overcome by broadcasting just one stream to a ShoutCast server hosted on a high bandwidth connection, the shoutcast server will then relay the audio to any clients connected.

Icecast was designed to be Shoutcast compatible. Unlike the commercial Shoutcast product Icecast is free.
You can broadcast streaming MP3, OGG Vorbis and AAC using Icecast.
