Record Xbox 360 gameplay with Pinnacle Studio MovieBox Ultimate 14 HD?

Well, I want to be able to record my Xbox 360 gameplay, I've read up a little about it and was planning on getting a Dazzle Capture Card, as they seem to do the job well enough for a nice (relatively) small price tag.

However, due to a Youtube comment, funnily enough, I found out about the Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD Ultimate Collection, which is a lot cheaper than the benchmark in HD Xbox video capture, the Hauppage HD PVR.

AFAIK Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD can only record SD videos from xbox360 (let me know if you manage to record HD videos from xbox over firewire). For the best HD video capture see the following thread:

The only problem is my TV. I'll add more detail if needs be, but for the moment I'll give an overview.

It IS a CRT TV, as in one of the old ones with huge backs (this is as opposed to LCD TVs, the more modern and common type), but it isn't incredibly old. I am pretty sure it has no HDMI sockets.

So... Will this mean I am unable to record in HD, and therefore should just record SD using a Dazzle? Or would there be a benefit of paying more for an HD capture card for a non-HD TV?

Slightly off-topic, would I be able to record S-Video using composite cables if I only have the normal AV sockets (red yellow and white)? Say, if I bought an AV to S-Video

Some SD and HD capture cards for recording gameplay from Xbox 360

SD capture cards
Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD Ultimate Collection costs $140. It includes hardware and software (Studio Ultimate).

Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD costs $97. It includes hardware and software (Studio HD). It allows to record from composite (not component!) video and S-Video. So you can only record SD videos with it.
Note that MovieBox has a firewire (IEEE1394), but AFAIK you can't use it for recording gameplays, because it is intended to be used with camcorders and other devices.

HD capture cards
Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR costs $169. It is a benchmark for recording from PS3, because the latter game console supports component video only. If you don't have a PCI-E slot (for example, if you have a laptop computer), HD PVR is probably the only solution.

Blackmagic Intensity Pro costs $190. It supports the same video resolution as HD PVR (720p or 1080i), but allows xbox360 to be connected over HDMI (which is digital) as well as by component video also used by HD PVR.

When recording HD video, xbox360 is usually connected to a capture card and TV via HDMI or component video.

Component and composite work simultaneously for xbox 360 when you use SD video resolution. And component to composite converters are not very cheap.

If you want to spend as little as possible, it seems to be better to capture SD videos or to get an HD TV.
