Re: Problem with Replay Media Catcher: RMC disables Firefox and I.E. web-browsers

Unfortunately the update did not help
Here are the responses I had received from Applian Support. Maybe they can help someone else.
  1. With regards to this, please add Replay Media Catcher
(mediacatcher.exe) to your firewall(s) and anti-virus software and make sure it's an allowed program on ALL of them.
Try that and let me know if that makes any difference, and thanks for your patience.

  2. This is really strange. Please do me a favor and reinstall the program and see if that corrects the issue. If it doesn't let me know.

  3. With regards to this, let me have you try a few things please:
    1. Open Internet Explorer
    2. Go to Tools-Internet Options
    3. Go to Browsing History-delete
    4. Delete Temporary Internet files

    Now:

    1. Open Replay Media Catcher
    2. Select start recording
    3. Select the URL you want to capture
    4. It should record-if it doesn't please select F5 on your keyboard.

Just so you know, the first four steps might not be necessary if you haven't been to the site before.

If you continue to have issues, please let me know.

    Best Regards,

  4. Hi

On Windows Vista, or in some cases with XP, the Data Execution Prevention feature of Windows causes Replay A/V and other programs to crash.

Here's how you can turn off Data Execution Prevention:

    Click Start.
Select Control Panel (or Settings, Control Panel if you're on Vista)
    On Vista, select Classic View.
    Double click System
On Vista, Select Advanced System Settings
    Click the Advanced tab
In the Performance region select Settings
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab
Select Turn on DEP essential Windows Programs and Services only
    Click OK
    Reboot

Let me know how it goes.

    Best Regards,

    Cheryl Wester

  5. Hi

I'm going to send this to the next level of support.

summary: XP, Replay Media Catcher, reinstalled, allowed in Firewall, web pages will not load with Media Catcher open-even if not recording, cleared cache, also tried with firewall turned off, adjusted DEP

    Best Regards,

    Cheryl Wester

I had been running CA (computer associates) security suite (with AV turned off) and AVG antivirus. A couple of days ago, I completely removed the CA software and added Online Armor as my firewall. Also, installed Advanced Windows Care and did some additional cleaning.
After reading your post, I thought I would try again and it works now!!!
Yeah!!! Don't know exactly what did it (I had run other cleaners, etc), but I won't complain.
Thank you for asking and reminding me to give it another go. I had tried everything else. Even Appian didn't seem to have a clue.

The recommendation was provided by Jeff Lenney (Technical Support of Applian Technologies, Inc.)

One of the main reasons why people like software from Applian and why I recommend it is Applian technical support.
