now the thing i must do is finding out ibx or i must do that on a virtuarl machine ?

you need to find the IBX in the Windows which is used to get DRM licenses from your content providers. It could be a standalone version of Windows or the one installed into your virtual machine.

Can you play your DRM protected content?

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMV

Hello,

I'd been using Fairuse for about a year successfully until I inadvertently installed WMP 11 which included IBX 6000.7000. So I attempted to roll-back the WMP as instructed but was unable to locate my DRM directory for deletion until I actually typed the path:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM

even though I have hidden files visible etc. When I try to delete the folder (which appears to be empty even in cmd line) I get an error stating:

Cannot delete drmstore.hds it is being used by another program.

I have made sure that WMP, Yahoo Music, iTunes (not that itunes should matter) etc. are not being used by interogating the running processes. Do you know what process is using this file?

Are there any other specific filenames I need to delete?

How about the DRM files in the Windows/inf folder?

Thanks Much,
Zoop

At least you can delete the DRM folder in the SAFE mode (all licenses will be lost!).

You can also try to usee freeware utilities by sysinternals:
  • Process Explorer is much better at showing processes and killing ones.
  • And File Monitor allows you to find an application that uses your file. Just filter for "drmstore.hds" and it might help...

Thanks Much!

I was able to finally delete the DRM folder, and reset my IBX.

Yahoo Music took a while to look up my license but then began playing my DRM WMAs. I am also again able to back-up my copies using FairUse4WM again.

Thanks much for all the info Stream!!!

U R welcome. Hope you do not abuse rental licenses and only remove DRM protection from legally purchased files.

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMV

Hi I have a question. I am tring to using fu4wm13fix.exe
I have media player 11.0.5705.5043 installed. I did have 11.6000.7000 but I uninstalled it and installed 11.0.5705.5043.
When I go and individualize my media player for some reason it keeps showing up as version 11.0.6000.7000 for my IndivBox.key. So fu4wm13fix does not work.
What could I be doing wrong?
I have a movie I bought that I am tring to use this on.
TIA

you should also do the following:
  • disable Windows automatic updates
  • uninstall everything related to Windows Media including Windows Media Format 11 Runtime, Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework.
  • delete the DRM folder (all licenses will be lost)

Well looks like my problem was that I had a security update for Media Player that was stopping it from working. Once I removed it and delete the DRM folder I was able to get it to at least come up now. But I guess I did something wrong because now it comes up as you don't have a valid licenses(something like that). Oh well it's just one movie so I guess I can't get to watch it anymore.
Thanks for your help.
