Why using Windows XP on Virtual PC or WM Ware?Quote:
With Virtual PC you can run one or even multiple other operating systems from your Windows XP or Windows Vista. Here we're interested in running Windows XP that fullfills the requirements of Fairuse4wm as a virtual OS. In this virtual OS you log in onto your media content provider's web-site and download DRM protected files. Then use Fairuse4wm to remove DRM protection and put the unDRMed files into shared folder. You will immediately get access to the DRM-free files from your main OS. It's much easier compared to having one more copy of Windows XP on your PC, 'coz you don't have to reboot and boot under different OS each time you wanna use another OS. You just run Virtual PC or WM Ware, hit the play button on the virtual OS to run it. Then use it as long as you need, then stop it and you're again in the main OS. It's like a snap! Just don't update your virtual Windows XP. Or at least make sure to apply updates selectively. |

Re: Download FairUse4WM - strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 9,10,11 WMV,Hi,
FairUse4WM does not work on my laptop (Windows XP) provided by my company. When I doubleclick on the FairUse4WM.exe file, nothing happens but when I go check the processes in the Windows Task Manager, I see the a process "FairUse4WM.exe" that uses exactly 50% of the CPU. I never get a chance to see the window appear but the process stays until I end it by myself. The laptop I have gets frequent updates from the IT department. FairUse4WM used to work 2 months ago on the same laptop. - Has anyone experienced the same problem? - Could the problem be caused by a security update introduced by Microsoft? a virus on my laptop? files missing needed to run FairUse4WM? thanks |

Alternatively you may use other DRM removal software or install FairUse4WM onto Virtual PC / VMWare. What kind of error did you have when trying to use Fairuse4WM? |

- Windows XP SP2 (+ many security updates done by the IT department) - Windows Media Player version 10.00.00.3802 - IBX version 11.0.5497.6285 - DRM Client DLL 10.0.0.3802 The problem starts at the moment I want to launch "FairUse4MW.exe". I do not even get the first window (the one with the Recover Keys button). I see a process called "fairuse4wm.exe" being started when I look at the processes in Windows Task Manager but that process takes up 50% of the CPU. I have to end it myself because it never terminates. How can I solve this problem? thanks |

Dear Gods of streaming, etc. :)
I am in deep need of your help. Though I have followed the instruction I got from unDRM.info: FairUse4WM for "FairUse4WM 1.3 fix downgrading Windows Media Player 11 Final to 11.0.5705.5043" to bring my IBX version down. I did exactly, word by word written by the author. Still the IBX version remains 11.0.6 My media player is version 9. Help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much sirs. |

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVHello, I am new and have a question regarding FairUse4WM. I have been using it for 6 months with no problem with Ruckus music files. All of a sudden tonight, it gave me the following message:
"requires a different private key." I have read about this problem earlier in the thread but can't figure out what you mean by: {If you get "requires a different private key", go back to the first page and re-extract keys. With v1.3, watch for the final message, it should say "Primary and # secondary keys (0 bogus)". } Do you have any suggestions on how to start getting my files working again? also , why would it just stop working and giving me this message after working for months before that? I really appreciate your help with this matter! - BP :) |
Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVYou must have updated the Windows Media Player recently.
The following thread adresses your issue: "Different private key" error when using FairUse4WM 1.3 namely the following post: Re-download DRM-protecred files and re-acquire the keys. Use fairuse4wm13 fix-2 |
Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVhey, I'm having a problem with FairUse and I was wondering if this has already been addressed someplace.
I'm running Vista 64. When I open up mirakagi and run it, it says: Mirakagi starts, code version 0.9 Found 0 keys in keyring. It is finished. And that's it. How can I get this to work? |

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVYou cannot repair video files with DRM.
You can only repair/fix if it has no DRM Catch 22 there |
Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVIf it converts file to an unplayable one, then you can try to repair/fix it.
As for DRMed files, obviously there are no converting or repairing software. |

1. downgrade your WMP so that it has supported IBX or 2. use fresh copy of Windows XP (it can be a standalone installation or on a virtual machine) Quote:

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVHello,
I'd been using Fairuse for about a year successfully until I inadvertently installed WMP 11 which included IBX 6000.7000. So I attempted to roll-back the WMP as instructed but was unable to locate my DRM directory for deletion until I actually typed the path: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM even though I have hidden files visible etc. When I try to delete the folder (which appears to be empty even in cmd line) I get an error stating: Cannot delete drmstore.hds it is being used by another program. I have made sure that WMP, Yahoo Music, iTunes (not that itunes should matter) etc. are not being used by interogating the running processes. Do you know what process is using this file? Are there any other specific filenames I need to delete? How about the DRM files in the Windows/inf folder? Thanks Much, Zoop |

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVThanks Much!
I was able to finally delete the DRM folder, and reset my IBX. Yahoo Music took a while to look up my license but then began playing my DRM WMAs. I am also again able to back-up my copies using FairUse4WM again. Thanks much for all the info Stream!!! |
Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVU R welcome. Hope you do not abuse rental licenses and only remove DRM protection from legally purchased files.

Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMVHi I have a question. I am tring to using fu4wm13fix.exe
I have media player 11.0.5705.5043 installed. I did have 11.6000.7000 but I uninstalled it and installed 11.0.5705.5043. When I go and individualize my media player for some reason it keeps showing up as version 11.0.6000.7000 for my IndivBox.key. So fu4wm13fix does not work. What could I be doing wrong? I have a movie I bought that I am tring to use this on. TIA |
