I read in another thread that while the song is playing you right click on it and go to find album info, and it would freeze and you would find the sid. I tried this and absolutely nothing happened when I clicked on find album info (this is the case of all of my songs for some reason).

So I did some messing around and found that if you right click and go to properties, then click on the media usage rights tab, it will freeze windows media player. After it freezes, the sid shows up in drmdbg, and the key file is created.

The person who posted the find album info method only said that the sid would be in the box, so I assumed that a new window would open showing the sid and other info. This is not the case, he meant the bottom box of drmdbg.

So the method is:
  1. put track in drm removal kit folder
  2. open drmdbg and click multiscan. The song will start playing, but you wont get a key or sid.
  3. Go to now playing in windows media player (easiest way to find the song.)
  4. Right click on the song and go to properties.
  5. Click on the media usage rights tab
  6. Windows Media Player will freeze (stop responding) and close.
  7. The sid shows up in the bottom box of drmdbg and the key file shows up in the drm removal kit folder.
The only problem with this is that you can't use any of the automatic methods to do multiple files at one time.
Quezicotl Says: I tried this method with MPlayer 10 and a WMV file from Amazon, no luck it didn't freeze up, and no key in the box.

after 435MB of freed data, I got a memory allocation error !
"memory allocation failed in handle_copy"
My HD has 2GB place left, and I have a 1GB RAM, running windows XP SP3.

Any help regarding this issue?
Thanks!
Bill

Definitely try freeing up space, I know you think you have plenty of space, but only 2gig left? try atleast 5 free gigs

Using "FairUse4WM" works extremely well and fast.

I have only used it for a WMV file, it detected my License keys within seconds, then it was very speedy in converting even on my 500Mhz 256RAM computer while it was scanning itself with Adaware.

It is DRMDBG, but with GUI (Graphic User Interface)(makes it easier).

*Remember, if you didn't legally buy it and it's protected and you aren't in possesion of a legit License you can't do any of this*

When its done:
Just check your "My Documents" folder, if you unDRM'd a music file, check "My Music", if video "My Videos", etc.

It will have "(No DRM)" in the name.

Re: HowTo Instructions for Removing DRM with drmdbg & FreeMe2 (from Windows Media Pla

Hi everyone, I've been following the entire thread to try to solve my DRM stripping issues. From what I'm getting by reading the comments here is that I probably can't use drmdbg and FreeMe2 as is because my WMP 11 is v. 11.0.5721.5260 and my IBX is 11.0.6001.8000. How do I revert that to the IBX that will work with these programs?

None of this works. Simply put. The SID will not show.

Here's a solution. Buy the CD and rip it.

Re: HowTo Instructions for Removing DRM with drmdbg & FreeMe2 (from Windows Media Pla

I think everything on this thread is a bunch of *****, and lame adolescent hackers distributing malware, using DRM-bypass a lure for people to download their malware.

The links to lots of these programs listed on this thread go to shitty sites advertising ****** (little hacker adolescents can't get it up after all the masturbation).

Nothing I've tried here works AT ALL. I think this is a big load of of *****. To anyone reading this, don't waste your time trying this bullshit - none of it works, as you can see from all the people posting here.

I think there are some pay programs that do this - you're probably better of trying one of them.

To the ***** who posted "instructions" on how to do this shit - your instruccitons ***** SUCK AND DON"T ***** WORK.

The instructions were written 17 months ago. Microsoft releases updates pretty fast and such software stops working.

Lossy DRM removal software works, but you should always try it before buying no matter whether we recommend it or not!
