Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeInteresting post...but I still cannot view my dvr remotely after doing everything described in this post ...My dvr local ip is 192.168.11.7, and I set it up to work on port 8080. When I type 192.168.11.7:8080, I can access the dvr on my local network. When I type my Ip address (obtained from whatinsmyip.com) and :8080 I cannot access the dvr. Also, I have set up port forwarding on my router and set up an account with dyndns.com, and I am not able to access my dvr using the url I have set up through them. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeGood morning.
I am very close to getting my cameras to work remotely, but am missing one setting I feel. I had a D-link DIR300 connected to my DVR and 3 camera's via a static IP all worked great. I had to change the router to a ASUS WL-520GU, I set the local connection up no problem. I then turned my attention to setting up the remote connection for my 3 cameras. I have got as far as getting the camera's to show locally via 192.168.1.109 and in my router settings I can see two devices using the router (my computer and the DVR) all good so far. I can't get it to work remotely though and feel I am one setting away from that. I have a static IP. Settings on my DVR as follows: Network Type: Static DDNS Link: Off Port: 80 IP Address: 192.168.1.109 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 DNS IP: 0.0.0.0 Do I have to change the IP address on my router (in Virtual Server Settings) to my static IP rather than 192.168.1.109 or do I need to change the IP Address on my DVR to my static IP address? I can feel I'm soo close and any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeHi .i have been reading this forum for a few weeks now and feel it is only fair that i register and reply for all the information i have gleaned and in the hope that i can help someone else.
I too have been struggling to get my cctv broadcast on the net. i have one wired camera connected to a addonics 500gb DVR ,i have it so i can view it on my own network and all works ok. However i have tried EVERYTHING to get it to work over the net to no avail, the last stage i got to was this : using IE ,went into router to change port forwarding and the webpage would not open after applying the settings so i contacted O2. I was told after speaking to several people that NO ONE was qualified to talk to me about port forwarding until i eventually got put thru to a chap in Northern Ireland. He told me that he had the same problem with his fathers cctv and dvr .. The answer he assures me is that the O2 WIRELESSBOX ROUTER (THOMPSON) IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CCTV He told me to go and buy a NETGEAR N GAUGE ROUTER ...... My contract is up this month with O2 so i will be looking for another service provider with a better router .Hope this is of help . |

Re: How to connect DVR via internet to watch CCTV cameras from a remote placeHi. I would like to ask everyone's help in setting up our cctv at home, and would like to be viewed away from it. We have an account in DynDNS.com, and I'm using a dynamic IP.
I'm clueless about these things, and I tried to do the guide on the first page unfortunately, I had no luck. My router is a TL-WR941N. What should I do to have a success on setting this? I hope someone would at least give time to help. Thank you. What info do I have to say other than I'm using a dynamic IP? Am I suppose to change it as a static? If I'm suppose to change it, how do I change a dynamic ip in to static ip? Thanks. Will wait for an answer. |
