Hauppage Colossus HD PVR is the best for recording HD videos from gaming consoles.

My old Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR still records from xbox 360 just fine. Don't plan to replace it.

I use Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt and it is awesome. And I still have an amazing game recording solution that I used in the past - Elgato Game Capture HD.

I was lured by the Pinnacle's sleezy marketing. But it appeared that Pinnacle Studio MovieBox HD doesn't support HD recording. Its software upscaling to HD is just lame marketing.

Seems like a chinese manufacturer offered a cheaper solution for recording from WiiU/Xbox 360/Xbox One/PS3/PS4 -
Ezcap HDMI Recorder. It allows to record 1920x1080 (30p) videos via HDMI or YPbPr component input. It features HDMI pass-through. The device doesn't support HDCP, but you can always record HD videos from your Playstation 3 and 4 via component YPbPr cable.



Currently Ezcap HDMI Recorder doesn't have any reviews on Amazon, but there are several devices with the same box sold on Amazon, including the following ones:
