WMRecorder getting too much flashHi, I did try asking for help (30/04/10), but no reply as yet, other than an ad suggesting I upgrade to a version 14 bundle, which as I point out, doesnt do what I want in the demo. Here is the query I have sent (ticket thing). Thought I'd post it in here as perhaps a forum member knows the answer, if the help desk doesnt.
========= Hello, I am far from technically minded, so I'll apologise in advance for my limited knowledge and lack of correct terminology. I bought WMRecorder a few years ago (2004 ish), I then upgraded to the media Bundle (Recorder/Splitter/Catcher/Converter) which took me up to version 12. I have tried the demo of version 14 and I still cant get WMRecorder to work as I wish with Flash files (FLV format). For my needs, I have to use a combination of WMRecorder and another product called FLV Recorder, however, now all files I need to record are streamed in FLV (flash), I am desperately trying to find a way to still use ADA mode as this lets me record multiple streams at once. I can get something similar using FLV Recorder, as in it allows me to record multiple files at once, but it becomes unstable if i try to record more than 2 files (sometimes 3 or 4, but I am forced to play safe and only record 2 at the same time). The site I record from (it is for horse racing videos) plays the race from a few seconds before the start of each race until after the race has finished). This is what I record using FLV Recorder. However when I use WMRecorder the site still starts playing from the position in the video (ie just before the start of each race) on their player displayed in my browser, but I end up recording 10 minutes worth of pre race stuff (going down to the start of the race etc), which means when i click on a race in my recordings folder, I have to scroll through to find the start of the race, plus it is using a lot more of my monthly download limit, this isnt practical for me. I have tried using Capture, but this defeats the objective as it is one at a time, plus it becomes very jittery as the FPS dont seem to be correctly in sync. Like I say, FLV Recorder allows me to do it the same as ADA format on WMRecorder, but doesnt pick up all the excessive stuff prior to the start of each race, and only records what gets played through the sites own player. It is unstable though, and I would much rather use your product, as I've found it to be very reliable for WM Streams, and FLV streams, except for not detecting where the FLV stream should start. Is there a setting I have to use with version 14? I have tried most things, yet it always seems to download all the excess footage, even when I've tried PRO mode (which isnt what I'm after), it still does it. I have no idea how these things work, I suspect that the site places some sort of marker that FLV Recorder is able to detect and WMRecorder cannot. Though I dont really know. Many thanks for any assistance |

Re: WMRecorder getting too much flashFLV Recorder captures flash video streams (captures packets from flash player) while WM Recorder downloads flash videos.
The PRO mode of WM Recorder is for Windows Media and Real streams only. |

Re: WMRecorder getting too much flashSo it cant be done then?
FLV Recorder enables multiple streams to be recorded, without there being multiple streams running/displayed. The FLV player that the site is using, stops and starts playing a new stream, while FLV continues to record the previous one as well. I have tried a later version of FLV recorder (currently using 3.61 or something) and it didnt work. What happened was I switched stream, and it stopped recording the previous stream, so it did look like it was capturing what was in the player, so long as that was running, but the older version which I use, allows multiple streams to be recorded. Anyway, so WM Recorder cant do it, even version 14? No setting I have to use? |
