Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeetingI have a wireless Linksys webcam that can provide an RTSP stream. I would like to be able to select that stream on my Windows XP computer as if the webcam is plugged directly into the computer, for use with programs such as Netmeeting. Ideally, I should be able to go to Scanners and Cameras in control panel and add a camera driver where I can specify the stream settings, but I have been unable to find such a driver. Does anyone have a solution?

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeI don't really know whether any driver or software like SplitCam and VLC player will be of any help here. And I don't know whether there is any difference between connecting your webcam wirelessly and via LAN.
Can you see it as a capture device? In VLC Player click "File" -> "Open Capture device...". Click the "Refresh list" button if needed. Can you see your webcam in the "video device name" list? |

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeVLC will not show the stream as a device because the stream isn't configured as a device on my PC. That's the whole point of my question, I want to make the stream show up as a local device on my PC but don't know of any driver that will do that.
Quicktime can open the stream if I click on File->Open URL and provide rtsp://ip_address/img/video.sav as the address. I get prompted for username/password after which I can see the stream OK. VLC can try to open a network stream but fails, because it's password protected, see below thread. http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&p=141884 SplitCam doesn't have an option for capturing streams at all. I appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Alex Last edited by Noyabronok : 03-08-2008 at 09:43 PM. Reason: more info |

If you can access your webcam as an RTSP stream only, then there might be no solution to your problem. |

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeI tried putting username and password in the url when opening the stream in VLC but that didn't work. Thanks for your help. If there's anyone out there who can add this feature I'm after to an existing app, or come up with a new app/driver that would be much appreciated.

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeI would send a request to Linksys first. This company must be responsible for its webcam working with software like NetMeeting!
And you may also send a request to the developers of VLC player and MPlayer and SplitCam. If it is a rare problem, there is little hope that someone will solve it. |

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeWell, I gave them a call, told them what I wanted since they agreed it's not supported. We'll see what comes of it.

Re: Wireless Linksys webcam: Capture RTSP video to show up as local webcam for NetMeeThe developer of Webcam XP has created an IP Camera directshow source filter allowing to connect IP cameras in Webcam XP and also in any other applications such as Skype, Windows Media Encoder or MSN Messenger.
Their IP Camera directshow source filter supports the following linksys webcams:
