Windows 7 - huge disappointment (why it is NOT the right time to upgrade)

I have lots of problems with Windows 7: from Windows Media Player and Office to Antivirus, Firewall and DVD burning.

Windows 7 is a huge disappointment for me. Despite lots of hype, it is not better than Window Vista for me. Its interface is slightly better (it is a big step from Windows XP), it is slightly faster than Windows Vista and .... nothing else positive I can say about it.

M$ spends lots of money to make it popular, but my recommendation is not to upgrade.... at least not until MS releases SP1 for Windows 7. There are lots of problems with drivers for Windows 7 (for example, you can see lots of posts about No stereo mix option an inability to record anything from a sound card that does support recording in Windows XP). Many applications only start supporting Windows 7, so chances are that your favorite software won't be working in Windows 7 for several months. And even if they do support Windows 7, you may have instability problems anyway.

Save your nerves. It is not worth it to upgrade right now.

Re: Windows 7 - huge disappointment (why it is NOT the right time to upgrade)

I still have problems with sound card, video card and tv tuner drivers in Windows 7. My Internet Connection is very slow and needs to be repaired after each reboot. And I see lots of problems with software that still doesn't work in Windows 7. Very, very, very disappointing. Do not recommend to upgrade to Windows 7.

The positive thing is that Windows 7 forced me to try Linux again. Ubuntu 9.10 is much much better than other Linux distributives I have tried several years ago. It is not ideal and has its own problems, but at least it is fast, reliable, safe and virus free. I enjoy surfing Internet with Mozilla, Opera and Google Chrome beta in Ubuntu.
