Why is youtube delivering files in 2mb size instead of the whole 50mb. Unable to downI am a big user of Replay Media catcher 4 and I use it to download legal free videos of youtube for offline watching as well as to avoid buffering. I use it to transfer files to my android device and watch it on as well.
The 15 minute videos that gets legally uploaded by news sites (eg: below) use to download properly as a single 50mb file until few days ago. Nowadays when I have replay media catcher open in recording mode and open a youtube video its downloading several pieces of file in the size of 1.6 mb or 2.3mb (10 files or 15 files total for just one video). This pretty much makes offline viewing impossible and useless as I am not getting the whole 15 minute file. Some days i get the file as a whole. Is youtube delivering the video files as pieces to reduce bandwidth? How do I get the file as a whole? Is there a workaround? I use orbit downloader sometimes and for the files under question they show the files as 2.3mb size as well. Please help me in downloading the file as a whole. Thanks in advance |

Re: Why is youtube delivering files in 2mb size instead of the whole 50mb. Unable toI think I am having the same problem as the OP except I save yt videos by going into my temp files folder. So far, I have noticed this happening with videos from one person's channel only.
Here is, for example, a 29-second video that I can't download: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReP9pN5jJDY For longer videos from this channel, I see a series of 2,400 KB files in my cache that are unplayable. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: Why is youtube delivering files in 2mb size instead of the whole 50mb. Unable toI noticed this happened one day as well and I wish YouTube would fix it! It began when they added the 3D feature. Here are some things that I have noticed
1) Any vid with only the 240 options will never cache 2) For some videos buffer at 240p and let it complete, select 360p and hit the refresh button on the left of the stream progress bar. Do this for every buffer option until you get to the quality desired. Save the highest file size (ignoring the duplicates) I have tested to determine that it is only certain uploaded formats affected, by disabling plug ins, and uninstalling Flash Player. Some videos will work using IE7 and flash uninstalled (using an HTML5 plugin). I hope someone finds a resolution for this! |
