Which software to use: Replay Media Catcher / Replay AV / WMRecorder ???I see that the Applian company has so many different products, it's so very confusing!
Looks like Replay Media Catcher can capture everything except Windows Media? If you want to capture Windows Media, then you have to use Replay A/V? But the comparison chart says Replay A/V cannot capture from myspace, youtube, abc, nbc, etc. Then they have another product that they don't even mention on their main web site, WM Recorder. Looks like WM Recorder can handle all formats, so it is better than Replay Media Catcher? Can it handle all the sites that RMC can handle, like myspace, youtube, abc, nbc, etc? And how is WM Recorder different from Replay A/V? I want to save a couple of videos from NBCsports.com (streaming flash) and jeopardy.com (streaming windows media), and want to know which product can handle that? |

Re: Which software to use: Replay Media Catcher / Replay AV / WMRecorder ???Replay Media Catcher can record flash video .FLV streams and audio .MP3 streams through the RTMP and HTTP protocol. Only 2 programs support RTMP protocol: Replay Media Catcher and FLV Recorder.
WM Recorder can record Windows Media streams and Real Audio/Video streams. It is the most powerful Windows Media stream recorder. It can also download QuickTime and MP3 streams through the HTTP protocol. Replay A/V can record all streams formats that WM Recorder supports, but it is not as powerful as WM Recorder. On the other hand Replay A/V has lots of features that WM Recorder lacks of: recording Shoutcast MP3 streams with song splitting and tagging, recording from Sirius and XM radio, direct sound recording,... I would add NetTransport to the list 'coz sometimes it is very inconvenient to record multiple streams from one page. I don't really wanna find all their stream URLs and add them to a stream recorder, it is easier for me to click "Download all ..." and select the URLs I wanna record. I use all these programs to record audio/video streams. Replay Media Catcher is unique so if you need to record flash RTMP streams you will need it (or FLV Recorder if you like it more). As for WM Recorder, Replay A/V and NetTransport it is up you to decide which one(s) to use. I prefer WM Recorder 'coz it is the most powerful stream recorder. But Audio Video Streaming Capture Suite with Replay Media Catcher and Replay A/V could be a better choice for you. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask. |

Re: Which software to use: Replay Media Catcher / Replay AV / WMRecorder ???Dear Stream Recorder,
Thanks for great help. Is it possible for you to create a comparison table comparing WM Recorder 11.3 and Replay A/V 8.21? I am trying both softwares and having a bit of a difficult time comparing features. I did notice two differences so far: 1. Replay AV captures .swf streams whereas WM Recorder does not 2. WM Recorder is a lot easier to use (one button click to start recording) or no click at all in AUTO ON mode. Is this why you call WM Recorder "the most powerful software"? What are the other features that make you call it "the most powerful software"? Thanks again. |

Re: Which software to use: Replay Media Catcher / Replay AV / WMRecorder ???Quote:
Replay AV has lots of features that WM Recorder doesn't have. It can record shoutcast MP3 streams automatically splitting and tagging songs. It can record any audio produced by your sound card. It can record from web-cam or satellite radio (XM Radio and Sirius radio streams can be downloaded by Replay AV). It can get flash videos from the cache of your browser. It can record from Sling Box. It can convert audio/video files. It can download Podcasts. It is integrated with Replay Media Guide (I especially like the "Add media pack" feature). I wish there was a program that combined all the advantages of the three: Replay Media Catcher, WM Recorder and Replay A/V. |
