I want to record myself only

I wanna record myself and I can only rap if the beat is playing but on Mixcraft 3.1 it records the beat also while im rapping. How do I record myself without record the beat in the background

Most of the sound recording programs that I have tried allows to choose the recording source. So you can record from your mic only
