Vista 64 audio recording restriction problem:How to capture & record streaming audio?

CoolMedia's "Free Sound Recorder" and Applian Technologies' "Replay Music" (and likely "Replay Media Catcher" and "WM Recorder") both warn of a Vista restriction on audio recording from the sound card and advise the same fix: going to Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording, right-clicking and choosing "Show Disabled Devices," and then selecting "Stereo Mix" as the default input device.

Well, when I "Show Disabled Devices," the only other choice I get besides "Microphone" is "Internal AUX Jack : 2-NVIDIA HDMI Audio : Not plugged in" (which I cannot set as the default input device even if it were the one advised). "Stereo Mix" isn't shown/available

What do I need to do in order to capture & record streaming audio?

Many, many thanks.

Vista 64 audio recording restriction problem:How to capture & record streaming audio?

Replay Media Catcher and WM Recorder download/capture audio streams, so they don't really need any sound card to be able to function properly on your computer.

Replay Music is a direct sound recording program, so it records audio from your sound card. It can even record audio on some PCs that doesn't have any sound cards using an audio driver. The driver works fine for me in Windows XP SP3 x32, Windows Vista x32 and Windows Seven x64.

You may also ask the question in the Applian User Forum.

In Windows Vista x32 I don't have the "Stereo Mix" option even if I choose "Show disabled devices". and the audio driver doesn't work for me. But I can perfectly record using the audio driver that Replay Music offers:

I can also record sound from my sound card using Ask & Record Toolbar when choosing the same audio driver as an input source.

As for Windows 7 x64 Ask & Record Toolbar doesn't work on x64 OSes including Windows Vista x64, Windows 7 x64.
But I can perfectly record with Replay Music when using the Audio driver as an input source.
