VHD image with a pre-Oct 2011 indiv?

Since Microsoft made it so all systems initializing their Windows Media Player DRM indiv keys (after Oct 2011) get the most recent version regardless of their WMP version (thus not compatible with all of the tools currently out to unDRM files), I was wondering if anyone could possibly upload a VHD (virtual HDD image) of a working Windows XP system with WMP DRM initialized and setup before Oct 2011, so it has an indiv key that you can actually use with some of these tools.

I know that a lot of people have turned to virtual machines to do their unDRMing in Vista/7, so hopefully someone will have a working image to do our unDRMing with, until another workaround pops up (assuming this will work, anyway).

Would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It would be a very big file. (bigger than 10GB).
It's hard to upload it.

Unless someone might run it on a rented dedicated server or VPS.
I'm also searching for it.

I guess it depends what you put on it and what software you're using. I'm using VMLite XP Mode, and my fresh install is only 1.5GB.

Re: VHD image with a pre-Oct 2011 indiv?

I've got one in VMWare form (that only runs on my laptop), as well in .vhd form that another member sent me that doesn't run for me, but does for him.

The problem is the DRM actually checks your hardware configuration, much like Windows activation does, and if it's more than a certain percent different, it locks you out and will say "Windows Media Player is unable to play the file."

So I guess, start by telling us: What processor do you have? If you have the same as either of the two images use, I'll upload it and let you try - if not, no sense in trying as I can guarantee you it won't work.

I know it's annoying, as I'm still trying to get one working on my desktop as well... for now I don't know how to get around that stupid restriction.

Hmm yeah, that's something I didn't consider. It makes sense since the keys themselves aren't transferrable, lol. I have an AMD Phenom II X2 545 Processor (3.00 GHz dual core).

I wonder HOW similar to activation it is, as I seem to recall reading an article that outlined exactly how it figures the unique hardware identifier and how much it takes to lock you out.

Unfortunately I only have Intel systems.

One's a Core 2 Quad, one's a Core i7. So I highly doubt it would work for you

If anybody can find some documentation on how the system works, how it's able to tell you've changed your hardware, it might help.
