SopCast streams can be viewed with freeware
VLC player, but for some streams it is mandatory. VLC can also help if a stream buffers but doesn't load correctly.
To use VLC for recording SopCast streams:
- Start the SopCast stream and let it buffer.
- Start VLC, go to go to "Media" -> "Open Network...", select "HTTP" option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (If port 8902 doesn't work, try 8912).
- Press ALT+S (or click on the drop-down list on the bottom of the dialog window and select "Stream").
- Check "File" and select a file on your computer to which your video will be saved. Select "Dump raw input" and hit the "Stream" button.
- Leave SopCast running (closing SopCast closes the stream).
- You may need to mute the sound in SopCast so it doesn't affect the sound in VLC.
