Re: How to use iView (ABC Australia) downloaders

I think that you're supposed to ask a Moderator to somehow block or at least delete the Viet stuff.
Many many months ago, several people asked but nothing has happened.
Perhaps worth another try?

A pity about Whirlpool. I have been away several days, did see the link to iViewViewer (?) but on going one page forward all the ABC posts had been retrospectively deleted.

Re: How to use iView (ABC Australia) downloaders

Whirlpool seems to have given users a 'christmas' present. The moderators clamped down and removed iview references & issued threats late christmas day or early boxing day. Several programmers there came up with fixes for the iview downloaders .. basically most of them are built around youtube-dl which is currently broken. An unofficial patch was created but after the moderator threats on whirlpool the author has withdrawn the patch and asked that those who have it not pass it around. Other programmers who came up with fixes will hopefully migrate elsewhere .. hopefully some will come here. In defense of whirlpool, they are based in Australia and so easily threatened, and they in turn have to pass on those threats to the users.
The latest official youtube-dl (23rd dec) is still broken for iview. Some of the iview fixes were posted externally from whirlpool, but all the iview posts have been removed from the whirlpool sbs forum. One of the SBS downloaders (SBS-YT) will also work, more or less, with iview urls, although there may be issues with the downloaded file names. I just checked and the link is still on the SBS forum here: http://whrl.pl/Re3KmO .. since the downloader is still on the web there shouldn't be issues in posting the direct link here (if the author wanted it gone they would have removed it): https://www.mediafire.com/file/tegnb...SDL-YT.v2.0.7z

Re: How to use iView (ABC Australia) downloaders

I find it really strange the behaviour of some on WP in relation to the unfounded threats from the mods.

When I was doing iViewNapper, I never once received any threats from ABC, the only thing was Internode threatened to kick me off their personal web space and I created nappers.net in response to that.

So we have seen a lot of overreactions, but life goes on and if I could be bothered I'd just compile a version of dl-yt with the changes myself but just cannot be bothered.

Anyway, I grabbed a version of ryleys modified exe, so if I need to, I'll use that.

Yes, rather extreme over-reactions by some .. oh well .. so life goes.

Youtube-dl has just published an update (28th), but it's still broken with iview. Fortunately I also snagged a copy of ryley's patched YT. Unfortunately not all of us have skills in programming.

Oddly, I am currently unable to log onto whirlpool .. either they are having problems or I've been blocked (I have a different user name there). Hmmm.....

Update .. I can log onto WP via the front page but not via the SBS forum. I heard from a moderator (the same one who stomped the iview discussion) who said they're having login issues.

Youtube-dl have released an update, dated 31-12-2017, which has fixed the recent issue with iview. You can d/l it and replace the copy that comes with your favourite front-end, tho' it wont help with MEM1E's iviewRipper. If you have ryley's unofficial patch, that still works so I'd suggest keeping a copy of that .. just in case the official release breaks again.

Update .. the author has nuked all of his downloader scripts and apps, so this is no longer available.

Good News Indeed - working fine for me with Tomb's URLdown dropper 4.5
Tombs has announced his retirement, so I guess we are at the mercy of the gods as to what happens next.
