Two sound sources - doesn't work for me with WM Capture 5 eitherHello,
I just read the previous thread concerning the possibility of recording two sound sources simultaneously - from my microphone, and the internal sound source in the computer (from the video). That is, I want to record the sound from the video, and record my voice commentary (like the poster of the previous thread). I followed the advice to download WM Capture 5, and was unable to get it to work with this version, either. I am running Windows XP. If I set the audio settings to "Line-In" or "Stereomix" it doesn't record anything. If I set it to "Microphone", it records from my microphone. If I enable the Universal Audio Driver, it records the internal sound source in the computer (from the video) with "Stereomix", but not the microphone. With "Line-in" and "Microphone" in this case, it does not record anything. I would be very grateful for any help! Thanks very much in advance, Aaron |

Re: Two sound sources - doesn't work for me with WM Capture 5 eitherThank you for your quick reply. "Dual Audio" is listed in the settings panel as being possible only with Windows Vista and 7. I have XP. Is there really no way to enable this option with XP?
Thank you again for your help. Aaron |

Re: Two sound sources - doesn't work for me with WM Capture 5 eitherSorry about that.
Unlike Windows XP, Vista and Win7 provide provisions for making your own audio source independent of the audio source provided by the sound card. On Vista and Win7 WM Capture uses its VistaAudio as first audio source and the computer audio as the second. XP doesn't have this luxury. You have only one audio source. In most cases this source has one recording input which can be either microphone or Stereo Mix (speaker sound) but not both. There may be some audio cards that have two audio sources so that Stereo Mix and Microphone can be used together. |

Re: Two sound sources - doesn't work for me with WM Capture 5 eitherThank you for your informative response.
Does this mean that with XP, it is categorically impossible for me to record from the two sound sources, due to the limitation of the system? Or does any another software exist out there that would allow me to do this? Thanks again and very appreciate of your help. Aaron |
