Trouble with viewing my security cameras on the net (AirPort Extreme)

Hello all,

I have read a few of the applicable post without resolution. Hoping to get some help. Before I start just want to let you know I have recently returned from deployment. Just before I left I was set to get this going so my wife could see the house and the dog run while at work. I would also have used this to see home while in Asia. Technical service was worthless and we went back and forth with static IP and non static IP accounts, etc. We now have cable (what ever that means). I don't know much about the technical stuff here so I was and am still lost.

Once I deployed my wife logged three more hours on the phone with tech support alone and still no success.

I am back now an tried once again to contact tech support and after being on hold for twenty five minutes, I hung up!

I'm done with them. If I can't get help making this work soon it is going in the trash.

Set up:

generic DVR with 9 exterior and interior cameras all functioning.

access to the DVR network menu.

don't think I have a static IP

I have an Airport Extreme router (MAC) if that matters

All is good until I try to go passed just looking at the monitor on the home screen.

I could use some help here. Hope this is a good start. Please tell me what more you need to know.

Re: Trouble with viewing my security cameras on the net

Thanks "anonymous."

This is one that I have already read. I did what it said to a point and then could go any further.

The DVR network setup it currently as such:

This is what I see....

Accept client [yes]
Show information [on]
IP Adress [192.168.001.065]
Gateway [192.168.001.001]
Subnet Mask: [255.255.255.000]
MAC address [00:C6:12:01:99: D3]
Port [80]
Password [111111]
Video Quality [High]

---------------------------------------------

This is what I see when I open up the AirPort Extreme router

IP address: 10.0.11
Version: 7.5.2
AirPort ID: 90:84: 0D5:51:19

------------------------------------------

Does anything stand out to anyone that I have wrong? What do I do to get online access to this?

Re: Trouble with viewing my security cameras on the net

Thanks 'anonymous',

I read through that post once again. However, this is no mention of how to do this in the Airport Extreme. I can't find anywhere in the menus where I can direct the data to the DVR.

I am trying to understand this but there is a lot of information here. So much, I don't really know what it means or what may apply to my situation.

Simply put, I have a DVR hooked straight to my router (no computer). My MAC router does not show an IP address. It shows a MAC address. This is not covered in the posted link.

Is there anyone else...anonymous or not that can shed more light?

Best,

E.

DVR is usually connected to the router. And then a computer is used to find out the IP address of the DVR. I have never used the Airport Extreme, so can't help you here, so can't help you to find the IP address or to find out how to enable port forwarding. May this is impossible. Next time make sure to learn about hardware before buying it, don't just buy it because it is made by Apple.

Every router is different. And there are so many of them, that they simply cannot be covered here. May be some users share their experience, but you shouldn't expect immediate replies. This is not a paid support site, this is just a free forum.

Thumbs down

Re: Trouble with viewing my security cameras on the net (AirPort Extreme)

Your assumption that I bought this router 'just because it's an Apple' is evidence of your arrogance. Your expectation that everyone who buys a piece of equipment should know it and understand as well as someone like yourself is further evidence of that.

And, you saying you don't know anything about the AirPort Extreme router with regards to 'streaming video' configuration, only means you are also miss-representing yourself as a 'Guru'.

You don't need to learn about equipment you buy. Enjoy wasting your time afterwards.

I'm not an expert in routers and DVRs, nor am I pretend to be. I always suggest to learn more about your router elsewhere.

Your arrogant behavior won't help you to get any help here.

For those who were deployed I repeat: find out more about the Airport Extreme elsewhere. There are plenty of users who know about it.
