Is there are way to connect my laptop to my TV (VGA or HDMI to DVI-HDTV)?

I have a HP laptop with a VGA and HDMI ports and I have a semi-old Hitachi 46F500 TV that has S-video ports and a DVI-HDTV port.... What is the best way to make an actual connection??... If anyone knows, please let me know.

You need an HDMI to DVI adapter and a separate audio cable to connect your laptop to TV. Note that there are DVI-I and DVI-D connectors, so read your user guide to learn what kind of connector you have before buying an adapter.
