Streamripper for Windows 2000Hi. I am new to this forum. I have searched the forum for an answer, but have been unsuccessful so far. Therefore, the current post.
I am constrained to running Windows 2000 for the foreseeable future. I want to set up a stream ripper to record from Shoutcast. Free software is always nice, considering my budget. Streamripper gets a high recommendation on this site. However, the two available front ends both require XP (+.NET3) or Vista. Can anyone suggest some other front end for Streamripper that would run on W2K? I suppose I could use Streamripper as a plugin with Winamp. Is that my best option? Thanks! |

Re: Streamripper for Windows 2000That's tough, most of the programs out today were developed after xp was released, hence they're being used for xp and Vista. You might want to try WM Recorder . It's been out for a while and I know some of the older versions worked with win2k. I'm not able to test this myself though, as I use XP and Vista so hopefully you can let us know how it goes!

Re: Streamripper for Windows 2000There are lots of Shoutcast stream rippers. I'm not sure which one of them works on Windows 2k, but you can always try. Most shoutcast stream rippers working in Windows XP will probably run on Windows 2k.
Also please note that WM Recorder can't split and tag songs ripped from Shoutcast. |

Re: Streamripper for Windows 2000Many thanks to both Stream Ripper and Steam Recorder for your suggestions. I will certainly take a look at WM Recorder, and I will see whether the Streamripper frontends will run on W2K.
As I said, I can run Streamripper as a Winamp plugin if other options offer no advantage. Thanks for sharing your experience. |
