HTML 5 is coming, so hopefully flash will disappear and users of all platforms will enjoy videos. This is especially important because more and more users switch from Windows.

Wrong there mate
I had an ipod touch (same as an iphone) and i wanted to stream tv to it tricky as it only sorten types of files can used
http://www.orb.com It works fine if you have access to a tv tuner card (dvb-s / dvb-t / dvb-c or a webcam and that streams an .flv (video/x-flv) This only works via an internet connection it won't work inside a network, It works via (Streaming pc/laptop >> router >> internet > router > > then xbox 360 / iPhone / Nokia N95/N96/N97 / Wii (tryed this and is very crap!) PS3 / PC/Laptop
what sucks but is better then nothing,
but if you wont to for inside a network
try VLC (videolan) and go into there forum and try there irc channel
