Question

streaming audio from sound card to RTSP.

Hello,

I have some questions about streaming audio. I have server with ESI Juli@ sound card. I need to recapture music from the sound card and then send the RTSP stream (to one IP or broadcast, no matter) as acc. I'm using windows for it. I guess I need something like DarkIce (but for windows) and server like Darwin Streaming Server. Am I right? Can you recommend application similar to DarkIce, maybe You recommend other app's to solve it the way I need?

Many thanks for any answer
Greetings,
M[a]D

If you can play your audio source with VLC player, try to re-broadcast audio with it.

You can also use freeware Icecast streaming server. It doesn't support RTSP, but do you really need it?

Re: streaming audio from sound card to RTSP.

Many thanks for quick answer. Well I tried the VLC but. It's not as stable as it should. Sometimes it's loosing connection and there is no way to notice it. For now it's not a big problem but the target is to have about 40-50 streams. The RTSP (or also it can be MMS) is key thing here. My boss want the RTSP/MMS in ACC so this way i must do it. Any ideas?

greetz,

VLC is not intended to be used with 40-50 streams, nor is it a stable streaming solution.

I don't see any reason using RTSP/MMS streams. But of course you can use a streaming server from Microsoft.

However I suggest to use freeware Icecast streaming server. It is available for Windows, Linux and Mac. I recommend the Linux version.

Alternatively you can use an RTMP streaming server, whether free or not.

Well i don't know why it must be RTSP or MMS, but i think it's not a problem for now. I'll use Darwin or Wowza to obtain RTSP. But I still have one piece missing - I must convert incoming sound to ACC, only then I can send it to streaming server. Any ideas? I was searching for free soft/plug that will convert to ACC, without any result:/

RTSP and MMS protocols are used for Windows Media streams. RTSP can is also used to broadcast Real Media streams. It can also be used for other streams.

There is also the RTMP protocol. It is different from RTSP!!! Wowza doesn't support live RTSP streams!

And I don't know what ACC is. May be AAC?

AAC streams can be broadcasted with freeware Icecast server.

It is really difficult to help because you don't seem to know what you're trying to achieve and why.

Re: streaming audio from sound card to RTSP.

Ok, It's me again. I solve the problem by using the VLC and sending stream in MMS. But now i need software to send multiple mms/rtsp streams. It don't have to be freeware - if it will be need I'll buy the app.
For what do i need it? I need to take audio from sound card and send rtsp/mms in acc to the mobile provider. (In future our listeners will be able to receive our music and services by the cellphone). For now I made it with VLC(one stream for now) but we don't have any possibility to monitor via VLC if streams are working.
