How to: stream video using EC680 analog tv tuner

I have an HP Pavilion dv8000 that came with a model EC680 analog tv tuner. Sonic MyDVD seems to be the only application that will properly grab the analog signal. When I try to pull the video signal through from SplitCam I get an 'unsupported device' error message. I'd like to simply stream an analog video signal through the EC680 card, out to livestream.com, etc. Anyone have any ideas? Why is the EC680 so exotic that no other application will play nice with it? Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated.

Try to use VLC. I'm not sure about livestream, but it works fine with other live broadcasting web-sites
