Stream rmvb files across networkWow what a goldmine of a site!
I am an IT manager for a small group of professional greyound punters. Each day I capture the videos of all races, and convert the mpeg2 into a small (1.5mb) file for each race in rmvb format. These files are stored on one of my servers. Currently, other members connect to the server through the web using http to locate the file, and save it to their local computer, the playback after download using Real Alternative's MPC. We want to increase the quality of the video which will increase the file size to about 4mb, and that is simple to do. My question is, how do I give the users the option of streaming the video, rather than the only option they have at the moment, which is saving the file, then replaying it. Do I need streaming software to push the rmvb files out as streaming when requested? and if so, do they need other software to view it or can they use MPC? Or, are there other options? All help greatfully received. Dogman |

streaming server to broadcast media streamYou need a streaming server to stream media files
To stream Real Media file you need a Helix server. It is easy to set-up. And it is easy to find a tutorial on the net. Most probably it is better to use free stream broadcast solution like Nullsoft Video. |
