Hi, I am here to recommend for a freeware screen recorder
ZD Soft Screen Recorder. It can record into .avi and .wmv files with sound and great quality. It is best used with a fairly new computer but I have used it successfully on a Dell Dimension XPS B933 with pentium 3 933mhz and 128 mb ram recording an .asf file playing in Windows Media Player (1 hour 35 minutes) into .avi file with sound. (I couldn't convert file properly that is why.) Anyways, a plus on this screen recorder unlike others I have used (freeware) is that you don't have to disable hardware acceleration when recording movies/videos that are playing on computer. Why would you do that though? If for example you want a video/movie that you can't download or a nonconvertable file like .nsv you would use this screen recorder to record the movie/file playing. It works I have done this for several videos some a couple of minutes and others 1 hour +. By the way, I think you can download the last freeware version from
www.download.com but don't download from main site unless you want a shareware version. Don't update yours either because it updates into shareware version. If you can't find the download, reply to this thread and I'll upload it for you. If you want to know the settings I use to record movies, reply to this thread.
