drmdbg can still remove DRM protection from Windows Media files, but you can't have the latest
version of IBX:

fu4m 1.3 fix-2, but not with the latest version of IBX as well, so you may need to
downgrade Windows Media Player, make a separate installation of Windows XP or deal with virtual machines.
Also there are lots of lossy
DRM removal programs that re-record from your sound card, so you can re-record such DRM-protected files if you can play them in your Windows Media Player. You lose some quality when re-recording and it is pretty slow, but these programs work not only in Windows XP, but also in many other versions of Windows. And you usually don't need to downgrade your Windows Media Player.
