Should we join Video stream recording forum and rtmpdump forums? Is it confusing for you to have the Video stream recording and rtmpdump forums which basically discuss the same?
Is it easier for you to learn about rtmpdump and related projects when they have a separate forum? Is it easier for you to have everything related to video stream recording in a single forum? Should the 2 forums be joined? |

Re: Should we join Video stream recording forum and rtmpdump forums?Using rtmpdump to download a video is obviously video stream recording but (video) stream recording doesn't necessarily mean you are using rtmpdump.
Since rtmpdump is a pretty big part of video stream recording now that rather many sites use rtmp streams to cover their trails it does make sense to give it its own subforum in my opinion. Apparently there are interferences, where it's unclear where to post. I posted a small tut for dl from comedy central in the video stream recording section and afaik it was moved to the subforum rtmpdump. Or did I accidently post there myself, I dunno . The intention of my post was to show how to download from CC, rather then showing how to use rtmpdump with the example of downloading from CC. Because of that and since in the video stream recording section there a lot of topic that go like "how to download from xy" I thought a tut for downloading from CC would fit in there pretty well. The rtmpdump section in my view resembles more like the general technical aspects of rtmpdump without the intention for explanations how to download from a specific website. But that's just my opinion you know, and really you could post it in both subforums. Someone new to this who is unfamiliar with rtmpdump though might not be looking in the rtmpdump section, when he is looking for a way to download from a website. Especially if the post is a little older and not one the recent pages anymore. So I do understand your question. My consequence would be that it could be considered to make a single subforum for tutorials, that include all stream recording (not just video) tutorials regardless of which subforum the topic might belong to. Re: Should we join Video stream recording forum and rtmpdump forums?great comment, hobo!
Instead of creating a forum with tutorials, we can add Wiki. http://stream-recorder.com/forum/do-...iki-t6329.html Or we can add both |

Re: Should we join Video stream recording forum and rtmpdump forums?I thought it was fine before as a subforum of the video streaming forum. I usually read both anyway.
