I'm having some problems trying to use
Replay Media Catcher 3.02 Trial to record a live RTMP flv video. The problem is that sometimes it starts recording and sometimes it, well, doesn't. Here are the steps I'm taking.
1: I start RMC and tell it to start recording.
2: I open my browser and the page with the stream.
3: RMC identifies the stream and adds it to the list.
4: RMC is "Starting to download RTMP stream..."
Now here is the problem. Sometimes it will start recording the stream after a few seconds as you would expect. Other times it just sits there. I'm watching the stream in my browser so I know it's active and valid but RMC just sits there "Starting to download RTMP stream...". Sometimes it will start recording after several minutes (by which point anything I wanted to record has ended) and sometimes it just never starts.
No errors and no messages, it just seems to decide randomly whether or not it is going to record anything.
When it does manage to record I end up with the same problem that I seem to have with all RTMP recorders that I've tried so far. I can play the FLV at normal speed but the length is corrupt and seeking does not work. Having to view 30 minutes of a file just to miss the few seconds when the chart you needed was up SUCKS. Attempting to open the file in any editor such as VirtualDUB or AVIdemux it will crash the editor and as such I am not able to convert or fix or convert the file.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? It seems like this should be a really simple thing yet all the programs available to do it seem to be broken in one or more serious ways.
