Rip QT streaming media from Freecaster.tv (Quick Time http:// streaming videos)

Hello,

at streamcaster.tv there are several intersting video streams.
Unfortunately I didn't manage to rip a playable stream. With URL Snooper and HiDownload, I can rip the videos, but they are very big in size and not playable. Anyone could know about a solution?

Thanks
Sebastian

Re: Rip streaming media from Freecaster.tv

It is a very weird QT stream. I tried several stream recorders. They were able to record, but I can't play the recordings. Besides when I try to play them, I get a browser windows with an error.

Indeed VLC player and MPlayer play them perfectly.

Thanx for the tip, Kron.

But even with URLSnooper2 I can't find a usable ripping address.
If it is hard for you to find stream URLs with URL Snooper, you can use its Keyword filter. For freecaster.tv you may filter URLs for ".mov".

And usually it is much easier to use WM Recorder, Replay Media Catcher, Replay AV. All of these programs have demo version that can be used for free to find stream URLs.

Re: Rip QT streaming media from Freecaster.tv (Quick Time http:// streaming videos)

I've carefully followed the steps given on this thread to try and rip some videos from
freecaster.com, with no success;
I've tried several from the following page:
http://play.freecaster.com/AP1000029/clipmenu.html#

Could one of you who knows how to, please check and give me hints why I fail? thanks in advance. treotat, from Paris, france.

Note: With URL Snooper, .mov snicked into the filter, I get some (long and strange) url when downloading the video, which, when copied into HiDownload leads to some downloading... of size 0, whatever I wait for.

I also tried WM Recorder, as suggested in the last post here, to get and instant download, but downloaded file is then empty.

When copying "by hand" the troncated address (stopping at the first .mov) in any browser I get an empty QTframe...

Could you please give it a look and help me... thanks again. treotat.

URL Snooper is not an easy to use software.

You may use free demo version of Replay Media Catcher. It downloads these stream just fine. Copy the URL from it and download with whatever software you like. I've tried this with HiDownload and it did the job perfectly.

Thanks Stream Recorder, the Guru, for your quick and effective feedback; Replay Media Catcher is definitely a good choice to go, also it won't play the .mov file it is smart enough to record from the stream. This is strange to me, but not an issue since VLC will play it smoothly anyway. Thanks again, treotat, a happy newbie.
