How to rip and convert .asf files to .avi, .mp4 with Replay Media Catcher?

i used Replay Media Catcher to get this file and it is in .wma or .asf format. it says windows media audio video when you scroll over it but when you try to convert with it says it is .asf.

However when i try to use its converter it does nothing (won't work and says the conversion is 0 bytes). I have the file but of course can't do anything with it. I would like to be able to convert to .mp4 or .avi.

Also it (the .asf game file) does not let me choose where i want it to play (as in i want to skip to 5 minutes in ; it only allows u to play at beginning and you have to watch it through; i hope you know what i'm talking about) . so that is my problem and what i would like to be able to do. i'm probably doing something wrong but please tell me.

I either need a new program for ripping or some other program that will allow me to convert it (recognize it too) and add splitters in for every second or something .

help. thank you so much and god bless.

Re: How to rip and convert .asf files to .avi, .mp4 with Replay Media Catcher?

To record Windows Media streams I prefer to use WM Recorder or freeware WebVideoCap.

All Windows Media streams that you record are actually .ASF files. However if these .ASF files have .WMV or .WMA extension, it doesn't seem to make any difference for any player supporting Windows Media format.

WM Recorder can automatically index .ASF files, so you don't have problems fast forwarding them. You may also use other software to make .ASF files seekable.

You may need to index .ASF files first (make the seekable) before converting. If it doesn't help, please upload the file to some file sharing web-site like drop.io and post or pm me the link, so that we can try to solve this problem.

p.s.
Replay Media Catcher and WM Recorder have a 30-day unconditional money-back guarantee, so you have nothing to worry about.

My previous reply should have answered all your questions. What kind of problem exactly is not covered by my post?

Do you have problems converting your ASF files after making them seekable?

We can't test it until you upload it somewhere.

I don't really know what kind of webcam freeware you are talking about, but the software I mentioned has links that should work. Please let me know if some of them are dead.

Also you can try convert files with freeware VLC player and MediaCoder. And you may use lots of other audio/video converters.
