Kindle is a stable product. All Kindles I have tried have never freezed or crashed.

If you want to reset/reboot/restart your Kindle 3 do the following:

Remove your Kindle 3 from the power source if it's connected.
Slide the power switch to the right and hold it there.
Count to 15 as if you're counting seconds, and hold the switch in-place for 15 seconds.
Then release the switch
The screen will be blank for 30 seconds, and then your Kindle will restart/reboot.
