Removing Windows Media DRM on Windows Vista. Need better instructions!Okey guys out there, I need some better instructions for how to get rid of windows media player on this vista laptop. I had it on auto update, didn't realize it would screw me. I hadn't turned autoupdate off until this week. does anyone know what things i will now have to do to get some old ibx codes? i have a couple things already that might help me, but i don't know the order to use them in.
I already have a downgrade fix, but it's pretty dumb. it says to just copy the wmp old version into the programs folder, but even if you had xp, didn't he know, there's a backup copy of wmp in the system folder ? anyways, I have the very latest fairuse4wm, and additionally am willing to test out stuff on this fully updated vista laptop as i can easily back up and reinstall, so take your shots at fully locked down vista . Or, maybe i'm just dumb. if someone has good directions already, just give me a link. that would work too. anyways, the things that i can't do on this laptop are: set up a virtual xp all because of the ram constraints vista has (practically 80% utilization i'm afraid ) and i don't particularly want to use a wmp 10 hack, those are gay, WMP 11 is too super useful, and besides, a good run through would let the nubs out there know that it ain't hard . |

Downgrading IBX in current VistaHow can I downgrade a current (i mean like this week) vista? I actually managed to find the drm folder thanks to mirakagi, it is in a hidden folder. it's path ( in vista duh! i already downgraded successfully in xp) is:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows And I am also trying downloading a few updates (wmp cumulative and kb929399 or something) via the update deinstaller. wait, so what now? Anyways, as I said in a diff. thread, mi casa es su casa. Give me some instructions, and i will test them with amazing disregard for my lappy's safety, as I might install a clean copy within the next few weeks , so I will voulenteer it for as long as anyone wants to mess it up . anyways, I'll be a bit busy tonight, I will follow some posts directions in the AM. |

Hello! IBX Code Rollback In VistaIf i just like quadruple-posted threads, it's because i was doing something wrong
Anyways, I was just wondering if i could get a hand. I want to get older ibx codes for use with mirakagi. I have all of the files you would need, but there isn't really enough info on how to get old codes. So I tried a wmp 10 install which was successful except for vista compatibility . It keeps wmp10 from installing correctly, so no ibx codes. First of all, out of anyone with Vista Home without a GPeditor? currently, GPedit and it's related registry values (in vista , gpedit is crippled) in safe mode is the only way to turn off. Can anyone provide an alternative? Is there one? I was thinking if there were a way to add the gpedit registries to vista manually, you could at least get enough functionality to do the wmp10 install. Can someone with some vista home hacking skills show me the light? |

Re: Hello! IPX Code Rollback In VistaJust install a new version of Win XP. Otherwise you're just wasting your time with a "mighty OS of all times". MIGHTy 'coz it MIGHT be good... unofrtunately it is not. Have a girl, not Windows Vista
Consider the time between your posts. Was it worth it??? Quote:

You can also use drmdbg. It works on Windows "Asta La" Vista and supports IBX 11.0.6000.7000. Last edited by Stream Recorder : 11-02-2007 at 07:40 AM. |

fu4wm fix2 should work with Windows Vista. You just need to reverse your updates. Read Windows XP instructions on rolling back Windows Media Player. They might help you to roll back changes in Windows Vista. |
