I'm running NoteBurner. But it seems that Mac version is not working. I've turned to the Windows version, which works much better than the Mac version indeed.

Converting DRMed Audio Books into .mp3s ...

I had to dig a bit deeper to find a complete solution for Apple Mac users which, very simply, is: The audiobook will play in iTunes on your Mac. Soundflower will route the speaker audio to the microphone where Audacity+LAME will pick it up and re-record it and export and .mp3 file.

Re: Remove DRM from Audible's audio books (Removing copy-protection from .AA files)

I followed these instructions to the letter, but I still can't get Goldwave to see my .aa files. I don't think it recognizes that as a valid format yet. I am running 32 bit XP, Goldwave 5.06, installed the audible filter, the missing dll and LAME, but still no dice. Any suggestions?

Remove DRM from Audible's audio books (Removing copy-protection from .AA files)

Updated for Windows 7 using GoldWave & Audible Download Manager. 10/11/2011

I have managed to get it working for Windows 7 x32. I will post a guide with everything. No searching for Programs, dlls, serial. It will be posted in a nice .winrar file. It will be extremely detailed, step by step. Their will never be torrents files, it will be linked to mediafire and 20 other file hosts. I promise that their will be no dead files.

I had a 2008 Audible account that I purchase a copy of eragon audiobook. I wanted to remove the drm this year (2011) and saw this site and many others. However, with dead links and painful headaches trying to figure out everything and put everything together.I tried everything from using virtual cd burner using itunes (it works however it take just to long) from spam programs *claiming* that it will convert to mp3. Too much bullshit going on the internet and I decided to write updated guide for Windows 7 users.

Please be patient as I try to finish this guide. Will be posted I hope later this week
Thanks

P.S Finished converting eragon to .mp3.

INSTRCTIONS: INSTALL IN ORDER. YES IN ORDER!

-Step 1: Extract the provided dlls from .rar to C:\\Windows
-Step 2: Install ActiveSetupN.exe (this is v5.5.05)
-Step 3: Install AudibleMediaPlayerFilter.exe
-Step 4: Install GoldWave (gwave506.exe)than close it.
-Step 5: Login to your audible account and download you audiobook (.aa). Open up admhelper. It will begin to download the file.
-Step 6: Open up GoldWave. Insert serial by going to Options-Register than go to File-Open-search-All files for your .aa. (If it asks for your audible username and password, provide it and proceed to the next step.)
-Step 7: It will decompress. Once that finishes, Go to File-Save-YOURFILENAME.mp3. 100MB will take aprox 30 Mins depending on your system.

This worked brilliantly for me on Windows 7, 32 bit.

Thank you so much for helping everyone else out after you had already solved your own problem.

Sharing is caring.

Where can I get the toolkit (.rar file)? The links posted above no longer seem to work.

Thanks!

Amazing. It works on Windows Vista! Thanks a lot - saves me playing 80 hours of audio books so I can record directly with freecorder!

Re: Remove DRM from Audible's audio books (Removing copy-protection from .AA files)

I followed the procedure by toXiclabs dated 10/12/2011 in this thread on Windows 8.1 64-bit computer (March 2014). Worked great! Was able to convert a 2-hour Audible audiobook into MP3 format in about 22 minutes. All other tools, purchased or free, do the conversion in real time, meaning the conversion takes as long as the audiobook playing length is!!!

Thanks a million!

Re: Remove DRM from Audible's audio books (Removing copy-protection from .AA files)

I put together a free tool to automate the .aa to mp3 / wav process. I call it inAudible and you can find it here.

Besides installing the Audible Manager (which all Audible users should have, anyway) it shouldn't require any additional codecs or libraries.

Features:
  • Includes and installs required codecs and DLLs
  • Includes LAME and will auto-encode if desired
  • Allows for multiple input files and a single file destination mask
  • Will split the encoded file into smaller, more managable files using silence detection to find chapter breaks

I have tested it on XP, Win7 x64 and Win 8.1. Seems to work, although 8.1 needed a reboot.
