Recording P2P TV streams (TVAnts mmst:// Windows Media streaming)

Hello: I've been trying for weeks now to record P2P TV streams that are generated by a P2P application called TVAnts (www.tvants.com).
The suggestions posted on this site don't work since there exists no single URL (in the conventional http://... format) for the stream. Using mmst://localhost:16900/1 etc also doesn't work with WM Recorder, PPRecorder, etc.
Is there anyone who can help me with the recording.

Many thanks,
Sonya

TVAnts have changed the data in its new version, so you cannot record it by PPRecorder, we will improve on PPRecorder. But now you can also use HiDownload to record it, please retry.
Note: Please select "Windows media streams" in Add windows when you add the URL "mmst://localhost:16900/1" or "mmst://localhost:16900/2"

Best regards,
Streamingstar
We are working hard to capture streaming media(windows,realmedia,quicktime,mp3,nsv,flv ...)

Recording Windows media TVants stream with HiDownload

As with any other stream:
1. Play your stream;
2. Find the URL with URL finding software;
3. Paste the URL into the stream recorder (if URL finder is not built-in into your stream recorder).

Using HiDownload to record MMS stream from TVants:
1. After getting the URL with URL finding software, copy it to the clipboard. Or just copy it from one of the previous posts. Note that the URL may change in the future so it is better to learn getting stream URLs with URL finding software.
2. Click the "Add" button of HiDownload. The URL should be pasted into the URL field automatically (paste it manually if not).
3. Select "Windows Media" as a download mode.
4. Mark the "Download immediately" checkbox.
5. Click OK.

Enjoy!

You can't find a stream URL with HiDownload. There was a URL Finder in the previous versions of HD, but it has moved to a standalone commercial software called URL Helper.

You may also use free URL finding software like Project URL Snooper.

using URL Snooper to find the media URLs

URL Snooper doesn't really need any tutorial. You just need to select your adapter once in the Options tab. After that
1. click "Sniff the Network"
2. play your stream
3. look for the URL

You may filter URLs by keywords (keyword filter box) or filter multimedia URLs (protocol filter drop-down list).

If you browse the net at the same time, you will find lots of URLs in the URL Snooper. The Windows Media stream URL looks like
mmst://localhost:16900/1" or "mmst://localhost:16900/2" (without quotes).
