How to record xbox 360 gameplay without capture card?

I want to record my xbox 360 gameplay, but without having to buy a capture card (My PC's CD/DVD reader/drive is screwed, so I can't install the capture card's software).

I saw a guy on youtube saying that you can use a VHS player, buy some AV cables for an xbox and plug in a video camera's AV cables into the other side of the VHS player then going to "playback" on the camera and pressing record.

Please help me,
Thanks

If you want to record xbox 360 videos on your PC, you need a capture card. It doesn't matter whether your CD/DVD driver is screwed or not. The software can be downloaded from the Internet. Or you can ask your friend to copy software to a USB flash drive and install software from it.

There are also other ways to record your gameplays. You can do it with a video camera, DVD Recorder, VHS recorder, PVR,... connected to your gaming console (or to the output of your TV).

Re: How to record xbox 360 gameplay without capture card?

There are so many cool ways to record xbox 360 gameplay. I have 2 ps3 and an xbox elite. o, and a wii and i record from all of them.

You can use virtually anything to record video games:
The original question was how to record without a capture card, "I want to record my xbox 360 gameplay, but without having to buy a capture card".

Pick your poison according to the quality of the resolution you want to get. That should get you started.

It is clear that not all gamers want to record video games with a computer near by. Anyways gamers are always looking for a quicker and better solution to solve complex problems. And making a hd pvr (vs. a capture card) eliminates a large part of the overhead.

This is possible, but an HD recording hardware we have found so far would cost you almost like like Hauppage HD PVR plus a core i5 laptop:

any PVR with HDMI-in and hard drive for recording for xbox videos without computer??

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me if this is answered later in the thread from this post; I will continue to read; but here you mention a DVD Recorder. Do you mean that you can use DVD ripping software and then edit out the parts you don't want or what? I am new to recording game play, so not sure of the ins and outs of what this means.

As for resolution, I want a good quality, but doesn't need to be the best. My intent is to record my game play to make my own music videos. I've never done anything like this before - as far as recording from video games, but had the idea after playing Dragon Age 2 the other day. Basically, what I want to know is: Is recording game play different from ripping a DVD to your computer (what I've done to make my music videos before), and the easiest, most inexpensive way to do it. Right now, the computer with the ripping and video editing software (master computer) is in a whole other room from the Xbox and TV, and the line connecting the Xbox to the modem runs through the attic - not something I want to experience doing again, let me tell you. I have no camcorder, but my laptops we cam MIGHT work if I can find a way to get the laptop close enough (I doubt it will have good quality), or I have a small external webcam which will likely have the same issues (finding a way to position it, and have good quality. So any help in that area would be appreciated.

If you have a DVD recorder, you can record your gameplay with it. Note that you will get SD quality only. And you will need to rip your DVD to edit the video.

Do you want to record SD video or HD video? How much are do you plan to spend onto a recording solution?
