Ok, I have come across a website that seems impossible to download from. The problem is that before the main video is loaded, it first plays a 5 second ad, after this ad the video is loaded. Therefore the video recorders only download the ad and nothing else. The url is the same, the video does not have the same url.

Forgot to add, hope someone knows a way to download past the ad.

There are too many stream recorders to try, but among those I have tried there was one that was successful at it, namely NetTransport.

Cool, yes. It first downloads the ad, and then continues downloading the main video.

Interestingly enough, the downloaded files only play audio, and the video is black. When I check the files for info it does seem to have video, and it renders well, but the video just does not work in wmp. Could this have anything to do with with net tranport?

Oops! I can't play it either. There seems to be the problem with net transport. I've asked its developer to check it out.

And hopefully Replay A/V, WM Recorder, Mass Downloader, HiDownload will make the necessary changes in the stream recorders very soon.

The "playlist" format contains multiple streams which all have the same URL therefore they cannot be downloaded individually. One stream needs to be finished playing (or downloading) in order to access the next. The "playlist" format is rarely used. The preferred alternative for Windows Media playlists is the ASX metafile.

To record the individual streams in a playlist stream use WM Recorder in PRO mode as follows:

And can you watch the stream (not the recorded file) in the WMP? The only thing I have is the sound.

If they have video you can't watch, you should contact the web-site support and ask for the system requirements.

Yes, I have the video but I can not watch it on my PC. I can watch the same video on the website, but the downloaded one (also wmv) just plays the audio, the video is black.

Its weird cus if it works on the website it should also work on my pc.
