Record Gameplay off Xbox360

I would like to know what I would need in terms of hardware in order to get the audio-visual off an Xbox 360 and onto my laptop in a format that can be used by a video editing software while at the same time playing on my TV screen. I have both the default component cable for the 360 as well and HDMI to HDMI which I currently use. If the needed hardware also requires software please explain that.

P.S. I have NO knowledge about this, please leave nothing out.

Re: Record Gameplay off Xbox360

I found a product called the Hauppage HD PVR recorder. Where you plug in your imput from the 360 into the recorder which then has an output to put in your TV as well as a USB output for about $200. Is this standard? Or do I need something more simple/complex?

Re: Record Gameplay off Xbox360

Ok, this is second thread(I'm 33 years old ok, "thread", its a question ok?lol.)I've tried to answer today, and reason I'm mentioning this, as I did in first one, is I'm very new to this, but when I'm thinking of buying something new, I research it as thoroughly as I can, and this subject of Xbox video capture, does have a lot of products, but there is a lot of information out there, but I think its for people with a better understanding of computer hardware than myself.
Ok the product you mentioned, the Hauppauge HD PVR, is very good from what I've heard, and apparently their Gaming edition, which is an improvement(if I understand correctly)upon the model you mentioned.
Now without knowing what kind of quality you want the video to turn out as, I don't know exactly how to help, but I will share all of what I've learned.
Ok so first of all, do you use an HDMI cable, or the component(red, white, and yellow)to play your xbox?
This is important, because from what I can tell, a stand alone, PVR device like you mentioned, except for a few new, and expensive ones like these in this link, Blackmagic Intensity Pro

Two of those are PVR, like the Hauppauge HD PVR, however I think they need, very new computers, and processors, as older USB ports run at 2.0 but newer ports run 3.0(don't ask I honestly only know that 3.0 is like the next thing, and much faster), and there are others, but they are very pricey.
But if you are happy with your component cables I think the Hauppauge gaming edition PVR would be a good fit, but again, I can't stress this enough, I'm new to all this too.
So I'd say your best bet is to contact either the support or "contact us"option available at most manufacturers websites, and ask them if the laptop you have is going to be compatible with the specific hardware you are going to purchase.
I just noticed your question had gone unanswered, I thought I'd try to help, take care
