Realtek Line-In Problem - Audition 3.0 - XPHello all, I am a DJ located in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
Recently I just got a Dell Inspiron Mini w/XP that came with a Realtek HD audio driver. I figured it would be a great little lappie to stream-record mixes with. So, last night I went to plug my mixer (Vestax PMC-50Pro3) into the microphone Line-In port. I've got a good Monster Cable RCA to 1/8th jack I've been using in the past, and it worked great on my old laptop (which is dead now). All I had to do was plug it in, select Line-In from the pop-up menu, fire up Audition, press record, and spin away. Easy. Now with this new Realtek Audio Driver, when I plug my RCA to 1/8th into the microphone jack and select Line-In, it says, "This Device Type Not Supported!" Damn, I thought technology was supposed to make things easier. Ive tried fiddling with the Mic Volume option, the Stereo Mix option, and nothing works. I'd really like any advice or remedies you can offer me. Maybe I need a different kind of RCA adapter, or something else I don't know about? Pretty frustrated right now at the whole thing. I was supposed to have my latest mix recorded last night. Many thanks to anyone who can shed light on this. |

Re: Realtek Line-In Problem - Audition 3.0 - XPI would expect this to work... See your audio settings, may be this port is set up to be used for playback or something.

Try to use the Mic option. It should set you up for recording from an external mic, not through the internal mic. |

Re: Realtek Line-In Problem - Audition 3.0 - XPHey Stream,
Nice detective work! Yea, it's a brand new laptop, I'm going to have one of my friends come over and see if they can get it to work. It is pretty weird, but I have an inkling it may require an RCA to USB cable, or external sound card, or some type of usb audio connection. |

Re: Realtek Line-In Problem - Audition 3.0 - XPBefore buying any cables and sound cards, try to use other versions of your audio driver. See whether DELL offers any newer or older versions first.
