Problem recording from Creative's X-Fi cards in Windows7 ("What U hear")Hi
I'm the latest person to discover incompatibility between Creative's x-Fi cards, Windows7 and "What U hear." So, I'm looking for recomendations for a new soundcard. I make a lot of video tutorials and record a lot of streamed audio so my requirements are: - Must be 100% Windows7 compatible - Must allow recording of "Stereo Mix" "What U Hear" or similar - Must be compatible with USB microphone and traditional jack-mics too. I'm out of my depth here. Creative claim compatibility with Windows7 for their X-Fi cards but me, and several colleagues, just can't get them to work as they did under XP. I've tried all the web-wide tips of enabling hidden recording devices and configuring Audacity with no luck. What should I buy? Over to the experts.... Thanks Barry |

Have you tried to record from your Creative Sound Card using freeware Freecorder 4? You shouldn't have problems recording with it in Windows 7 (even though the recording option is called "Vista recording" in it). Other Applian products including Replay Music, Replay AV, Replay Video Capture, Replay Media Catcher can also record from your sound card even if it doesn't have the "Stereo Mix" / "What U Hear" / "Wave-out Mix". You can also install Linux like Ubuntu onto your computer. You shouldn't have any problem recording sound with it. Re: Problem recording from Creative's X-Fi cards in Windows7 ("What U hear")Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I already have Freecorder for internet use but the problem is bigger than this. I use Camtasia screen capture software for video tutorials and it needs the "What U Hear" setup too.

Re: Problem recording from Creative's X-Fi cards in Windows7 ("What U hear")Ok... If you use create simple video tutorials, you can use Replay Video Capture.
Otherwise if Creative doesn't provide drivers supporting "What U Hear" for your sound card, I don't think anything can be done in Windows 7. Getting another sound card is the way to go. |
