Hello,

I tried all the steps to remove drm from epub file.. But I am not able to bream the drm.. While execting the script am getting Error as

"Error: Problem decrypting session key"

im also tried by deleting the register then also I'm getting same error.

Can any one break the drm of this epub book file.

If it doesn't help, post more details about what you have done

p.s. You can remove DRM from files downloaded on your computer using your computer only, so posting ebooks here won't help.

Is adeptkey.der located in the same folder where your EPUB ebooks are?

Ok, first let me apolgize for being a dumbass.

I got a Kindle for Fathers day. Seems good so far. Problem is I have several B&N gift cards that now I don't need. So, straight to the web to find out if I can convert. Several hours of reading and downloading later, and I am still a dumbass.

So

Downloaded Adobe Digital Editions
Downloaded Python 2.6
Downloaded Pycripto
Double clicked on ineptkey.pyw and recieved an adeptkey

Then it says to run ineptepub.pyw When I do (doubleclick) I just get the script page opening. Nothing else.

I know I am not doing this right, but for whatever reason I am not able to get past this to even get to the error messages that some of you are getting.

Any help would be really appreciated.

When I run ineptepub.pyw (v2) I get the error: File is not a zip file.

Now is this referring to the input file or output file? Would it have something to do with the version of the scripts I'm running? I'm running Python 2.7 and the latest Cryptopy and ineptkey.pyw(v3)

I am on a Mac using
• Python 2.7
• PyCrypto for the mac
• ineptkey 5
• ineptepub 5.2

and I get an error message that reads
Error: File name in directory "OEBPS/chap8_newyorkt_978031237659

Any help understanding this is appreciated.

I actually ended up figuring it out after sleeping on it. Turns out I was trying to open DRM protected .pdf files rather than .ePub.

Worked!!

I bought an ebook from W****stones and wanted to read it using the iBooks app on my iPad.

Followed your instructions (they worked first time ;)) and the decrypted epub file now opens fine on the iPad :D

Completly agree that it's not about piracy but about your right to use your legally purchased digital media on any device you choose.

Newbie to the whole DRM stuff here I have installed everything clicked on the automated INEPT thingy, clicked on decrypy whole directory but i get zip, nada, nothing its just sitting there is it because i have over 130 books in the file?

Sorry for probably being a bit dense here :) I have seen other people posting something very similar before in this thread, but not really seen any answer. I have installed the needed stuff and put the ineptkey_v43.pyw file in a directory and run it with my python.exe file (v26). The only thing I get is an error message though and no adeptkey.der is written. If anyone can help me understand what is going wrong, that would be very much appreciated :)

Thanks for all the help. It works great on a file by file basis, but is there any way to automate it as I have 300+ DRM books? Perhaps the entire contents of an input folder to an output folder, using the same names?

I've already mentioned in the thread that aineptepub.pyw removes protection from whole folders of EPUB eBooks.

I have finally found a solution to decrypt my DRM files from sony and able to read it in iBooks, however I encounter problems when I tried to remove DRM for 2 titles.

The error message I got was "OEBPS/Sang_9780307451675_o"

Can someone pls help me. I have no problem with other books. I tried uninstall and reinstall my Adobe Digital Editions v1.7, i tried de-authorise , but it does not help.

I tried delete away the books again, and re-download again. it does not help.

Appreciate if someone could highlight to me, what is the problem i am facing.

DRM can be removed on a computer that was used to download an ebook.

What is the exact error that you get? What versions of scripts do you use?

I'm sorry to bother you, but I am completely lost. I got as far as running "ineptkey.pyw" and it created "adeptkey.der". But when I try to run ineptepub.pyw, I just get a box that says "Key successfully retrieved to adeptkey.der. I don't get anything else. I know I am a complete computer moron, but PLEASE help me. Thanks.

I don't know how to find out what version I am using (I told you I am a really sorry computer moron). There was no output file, and I didn't get any errors (I guess that should have been my first clue something was wrong.) All I get is "Key successfully retrieved to adeptkey.der"

Hey, it worked!!! I have just one more question. I think I read that I can do a whole folder, and not just one file at a time. I tried it and I got an error:

"Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\USER\\My Documents\\My Books\\Reader Library'

I had my Input file:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\My Books\Reader Library

Output File:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\My free ebooks

What did I do wrong?

Sorry, I just reread the whole thread. Before I do it, I want to make sure that aineptepub.pyw will work with ineptkey.pyw version 5. What (if it matters) version of that aineptepub.pyw should I look for? Do you have a good link to it?

AFAIK DRM can only be removed on a computer which was used to download your ebooks.

Some patience and perseverance and you will be able to do it.

I would be buying the books on my iPad. Since you obviously know way more than me, where would you suggest I buy them? It looks like Amazon and B&N have the biggest selection of books. Would I be able to buy books on my iPad from either of these and then remove make them so that I can read it on any of my readers?
