Re: Download FairUse4WM - to strip DRM protection from Windows Media Player 10,11 WMV

Hello, DRM noob here...

Question: If I use my Win7 (64bit) machine to download my Zune purchases, can I then run a virtualbox install of XP (32bit) to remove DRM?

If not, can I just reboot into a separate installation of XP 32bit on a separate partition, and remove DRM from that install?

Just curious if I can even make this work, before I start spending time learning how to free some songs for my iPhone.

Thanks!

If Zune forces you to upgrade to the latest version of IBX, then you won't be able to use FairUse4WM or freeme2. BTW it seems like the latter has more succesful users right now.

If you are not forced to upgrade, you can try both freeware virtual machine virtual box (as well as any other virtual machine) or a separate installation of Windows XP. I haven't tried virtual box yet, but you shouldn't have problems with it.

I followed milOtis' tutorial to use with FairUse4WM 2009-01-10, however now I get this warning in the very last step of removing the DRM:

C:\[milOtis] 2009-01-10 FairUse4WM DRM Fix\1234.wmv does not have a recognizable DRM header.

My Fair Use was working properly.Yesterday, I downloaded some update (I dont know what was that update, Some kind of codec I think)
After that, WM Recorder is showing this message: requires a different private key.

Please help me

What is your IBX?

If you get this error on a brand new license, then redownload test content from fairuse4wm.com or ezdrm.com. Extract the keys.
If the key extraction fails, THEN please post the IBX version from the dialog box.

Hi,
I notice someone else has asked a similar question above but I'm not sure of the answer.

Will FairUse4WM run on a 64 bit system? Will the XP mode version of XP that comes with Windows 7 work with it (on a 64 bit version of Windows 7)? It looks like it's becoming increasingly difficult to find XP drivers for new computers.
