Question

Possible to stream WLOQ radio this to my AVR (vsx920)?

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is the wrong section. I just set up the Pioneer VSX-920 A/V receiver. It is capable of receiving internet radio via LAN port.

I'm trying to reach WLOQ in Winter Park, Florida but can't seem to connect...Can't find anything via basic ways- and I'm using Linux Mint, so many of the url sniffers don't work.

Before I go through having to install a virtual machine just to test it- could anyone here confirm if this radio station even has the possibility of me loading a stream to my AVR?

Hope I'm making this clear/not too confusing. I'm new at it all.

Cheers!

G

Opened the player
Code:
http://socialstreamingplayer.crystalmedianetworks.com/radio/wloq
and it appeared to be an Icecast stream
Code:
http://out1.cmn.icy.abacast.com/wloq-wloqfm-128
You can use Wireshark on Linux to find stream URLs.

For streams like that you can also use a demo version of RMC 3.11. You can run it in Linux using Wine.

Did you use Wireshark, yourself, to find this? I just installed WS but when I choose capture, my adapter, & hit start- it says "The capture session could not be initiated (socket: Operation not permitted).
Please check to make sure you have sufficient permissions, and that you have the proper interface or pipe specified."

This is in Mint 9...not asking you to troubleshoot WS- just wondering if I might have a glitch- or if you used some other program to find the stream address?

Cheers,

T

I used it in Ubuntu. AFAIK I launched it from the terminal
Code:
sudo wireshark
Not sure whether it was a correct way, but I got a similar error otherwise.
