How to play FLV files in Applian FLV Player (Linux + Wine)

Applian FLV Player is a freeware FLV player for Windows. It works fine on Linux with Wine too. I tested Applian FLV Player on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala.

Wine lets you run Windows software on other operating systems like Linux and Mac OS. With Wine, you can install and run these applications just like you would on Windows.

How to install Applian FLV Player on Linux like Ubuntu 9.10
  • Install Wine using Ubuntu Software Center, your favorite package manager or from Terminal:
    Code:
    sudo app-get install wine
  • Download Applian FLV Player (Windows).
  • Right-click on the downloaded file and select "Open with Wine Windows Program Loader"

How to run Applian FLV Player on Ubuntu 9.10
  • Go to Applications -> Wine -> Programs -> Applian Technologies and select Applian FLV Player
  • Hit the Open button or link to open an .FLV video.
Note: It seems like Drag-n-drop doesn't work.
