Play button does not become pause during recording

Hello all,

in the WM Capture instruction manual it is written:

Starting Recording

To start a recording, press the Record button. In a moment, the region you selected will be recorded as a video. As you're recording, the Record button turns into a Stop button, and Play becomes Pause.

However, with my program (I have the full version), the Play does not become Pause. For the work I am doing, I need to be able to pause during recording. How is this possible?

With many thanks in advance for help,

And kind greetings,

Aaron Epstein

What version and recording format do you use?

Version 5, format WMV.
I was told that the pause function only works with MPEG. Why is this the case? For my work I need to export immediately into WMV, and need the pause function.

Thanks in advance!

Many kind greetings,

Aaron

Re: Play button does not become pause during recording

Thank you for your reply. I already have WM Capture 5, I ordered it last month (April 2011), after the March 11 update you spoke of.
If I go to the website to update (which shouldn't be necessary, it seems), I need to pay 7 Euros.

I would be grateful for help and clarity.

Thank you!

Aaron

Sorry, but I don't really understant your question. If you have WM Capture 5 already (not a demo version), you don't need to update it.

WM Capture 4 was able to pause recordings when using MPEG-2 format only. You should be able to pause when using any format in WM Capture 5. If you have problems pausing WM Capture 5 recordings when using any format, I suggest you to submit a support ticket.

Re: Play button does not become pause during recording

Thank you, I posted a support ticket, and the reply was that the pause is only available for MPEG-2 format in WM Capture 5 (that is, this functionality has not been added to version 5).

Of course I can record in MPEG format and convert it to WMV afterwards, but I am concerned that the quality of the WMV will be lower than if I directly select the WMV format on WM Capture. Is my concern well-founded?

Thank you again for your replies.

With many kind greetings,

Aaron
