Partial Screen Capture: How can I capture just part of my screen

I want to capture a portion of the screen of a video I have showing on my screen. This is from an internet video that I want to save as a clip on my computer so I can use it with the video editing software program I now have.

Can I capture just part of my screen?
How do I store the clip on my computer?

I know dumb questions- please give me a hand, thanks

Re: Partial Screen Capture: How can I capture just part of my screen

WM Recorder is a stream downloader/stream capture software, so you can't select a part of your video that you want to record with it.

But you can record a part of your screen with WM Capture, which is a screen recorder. Just select an area of your screen which needs to be recorded.

WM Capture records uses MPEG-2 .mpg and Windows Media .wmv files, so there should be no problem storing, editing, converting your screen recordings.

See the following video tutorial showing how to record from screen with WM Capture:

WM Capture will do exactly what you need. You can use the 'region recording' feature - just use your mouse to highlight the area you want to record. It is extremely easy to use, and creates standard MPEG-2 or Windows Media format files that can be edited in any video editor. You can download the software here:
