Opera web browser is a scam and Norton antivirus can't catch omniquad scamming

I've just worked out why I keep getting the Blue screen of Death...It's happenned to me a dozens times, Why do I pay Norton ?39.95 for an anti virus program that cannot even manage to catch a scamming site like omniquad!! If you want to get rid of the BSoD they'll do it for you at the price of $59.99!! They will send you an anti virus program that doesn't do a thing!! "Which Magazine" tried it out and it''s crap!!completely useless....Now how did I get the BSoD?.... I downloaded another browser namely "OPERA" don't ever download it. It's just a scamming site that wants yo to buy the so called anti virus program..
I've learned my lesson, be thankful for what you've got..

I've been using Opera for ages on Windows, Linux and Windows Mobile. It is not a scam, nor does it force you to buy anything. Just make sure to download it from the official web-site, namely http://www.opera.com/

Viruses are always one step ahead. Euristic algorythms of antiviruses don't work 100% of the time. No antivirus can stop 100% of viruses. There will always be new ones that antiviruses won't be able to catch.

So make sure to download software from trusted sources. And make sure you understand the consequences before opening attachments even from people you know (because, for example, their accounts can be hacked and you can get a message with malware from someone you trust).

You can also use quality OSes like Linux and Mac OS X. They have better protection from viruses, besides most viruses are written for Windows.

Opera certainly isn't a scam, it is a bona fide browser, which implements a whole range of cutting edge design features long before firefox/ie/chrome manage to copy them. Also because of its relatively low market share (outside of Russia where it is a major force) virus and malware makers tend not to focus on it.

Agreed, Opera's definitely not a scam. I've been using the Opera browser since ages ago and never happened anything remotely similar to what u're talking about.

This should be a lesson to you, in the future don't believe everything you read on the web, especially sites that ask you for money to remove viruses or something like that.

True.. that being thankful is key. This sad person probably feels like I have sometimes. Lost mind.

Opera doesn't push its browser with any 'deals' but any site could and I suspect that's what this person found.

I've used Opera Browser since version 3 or 4, about 10 years ago, it's up to 11x now. It's been good for many things and I've had few complaints.

I've been online since 1982 at 300 baud. .. and I'm still waiting to download something called AOL.
